An amazing article indeed, thanks and congrats for it! However, I must take issue with the continued "politically correct" attacks on Cousteau and his legacy based on the perceived "ethical issues" related to his manipulation of marine animals for his filming. Trying to measure a deceased person who lived and worked in the past with current morals and perceptions is never fair, much less in this case.

Cousteau has brought awareness about the Ocean and its conservation needs for hundreds of millions of people around the globe, and inspired millions to take up careers in Ocean science and conservation. There's no "dichotomy" in that: his legacy is immensely positive and all the yapping about what he did in the 1950's and 60's with precious few animals to achieve these results is, in most cases, just preposterous holier-than-thou yapping.
